Mission Dolores Park covers two blocks between 18th, 20th, Dolores, and Church streets. The land was a Jewish cemetery until the 1890s, then became a city park, and served as a refugee camp for people displaced by the 1906 earthquake and fire.
Today it is one of the most used parks in the city. The southwest corner, higher on the hill, gives a view across the Mission to downtown. On warm weekends the lawns fill completely. The Mission sits in the city’s sunniest microclimate, so the park draws crowds when the rest of San Francisco is under fog.
