The 16th Avenue Tiled Steps in San Francisco is a community project that has brought neighbors together to create a mosaic staircase with a sea to stars theme. The project was initiated in 2003 by local residents Jessie Audette and Alice Yee Xavier, who enlisted the help of artists Aileen Barr and Colette Crutcher to design the mosaic panels. Funding for the project was provided through sponsorships of handmade tiles by the community.
