Wave Organ

Wave Activated Acoustic Sculpture

The Wave Organ is a sound sculpture located in San Francisco that was created by artists Peter Richards and George Gonzales in 1986. The sculpture is located on a jetty in the San Francisco Bay and is made up of a series of pipes and tubes that are embedded in the jetty and extend into the water. The pipes and tubes are designed to capture the sound of the waves as they wash over the jetty, and the resulting sound is amplified through a series of speakers located on the jetty. Visitors to the Wave Organ can walk along the jetty and listen to the sounds of the waves as they flow through the pipes and tubes.
