Chinatown Walking Tour
The Verdict
"Skip Grant Avenue and walk Stockton Street for the real Chinatown. Duck into Ross Alley and Waverly Place for temples and the fortune cookie factory. Best before 10 AM for morning market energy."
What you need to know
San Francisco’s Chinatown has been a neighborhood since the 1840s. Start at the Dragon’s Gate on Bush Street and work your way through Waverly Place, Ross Alley, and Spofford Street. The Tin How Temple on Waverly is the oldest Chinese temple in the country. Guided food tours run daily and are worth the price.
