Twin Peaks

The Verdict

"Drive or take an Uber because there's no convenient transit. Sunset is the best time but bring a heavy jacket because the wind at the top is brutal. Clear days are rare in summer."

What you need to know

Twin Peaks rises 922 feet above the city with panoramic views in every direction. The parking lot fills up fast at sunset, so arrive early or take the 37 bus. The wind is fierce, so bring layers. Christmas Tree Point is the main viewpoint. Walk the short trail between the two peaks for even better vantage points.

North end has the Golden Gate Bridge views. South end is clothing-optional. The water is dangerously cold with strong currents, so this is a walking and picnicking beach, not a swimming beach.
