Shakespeare Garden

Flowers Mentioned In The Works of Shakespeare

The Shakespeare garden is a themed garden that cultivates all of the 175 plants mentioned in the works of William Shakespeare.

The park also managed to acquire a statue of Shakespeare that still resides in the garden. Members got the mayor of Stratford-Upon-Avon in England to donate a bust of the world’s most influential dramatist to stand watch over the grounds.

The cast by George Bullock dating to 1814 was taken from the one carved in the 17th century for the Stratford-Upon-Avon Church. A bronze copy was made, and it presides over the garden to this day. But to most visitors, the statue remains a mystery. Since around 1950, it has lived its days behind padlocked green metal doors, protected from the prying hands of vandals.
