The Detour

🍸 Arcade Bar

The Verdict

"Free arcade games and craft beer. 21 and over."

What you need to know

What you’ll find

The game selection rotates but leans classic: Pac-Man, Galaga, Street Fighter II, NBA Jam, and a handful of pinball machines. Games are pay-to-play, except on the first Tuesday of each month, when free play runs all day.

The beer list runs about a dozen craft taps skewing toward West Coast IPAs and local breweries, plus canned options. Cocktails are simple. The kitchen serves Filipino-inflected Asian comfort food, including a late-night menu.

The crowd is mixed: Castro regulars, bar-crawl groups, dates. It fills up on Friday and Saturday nights after 10pm. Weeknights have shorter waits for the more popular machines.

What to know

The Detour is 21+ in the evenings, with all-ages hours on Saturdays from 2pm to 6pm. The space is one long room with the bar on one side and games on the other. The back is generally less crowded than the front.

Happy hour runs on weekdays with discounted drafts. No dress code.

Twin Peaks Tavern, Beaux, Hi Tops, and The Edge are all within a few blocks if you want to make a night of it.
