Healdsburg: A Wine Country Town in Northern Sonoma

Overview

Healdsburg is a wine country town that food and design magazines write about often. It has a plaza, well-regarded restaurants, artisan shops, and three wine appellations converging in one walkable town: Russian River Valley, Dry Creek Valley, and Alexander Valley.

Getting There

About 1.5 hours north of San Francisco via Highway 101. It’s a straight shot up the freeway, and the drive runs through Petaluma and Santa Rosa. You can combine it with a stop in Sonoma on the way back.

The Plaza

Healdsburg’s town square has tasting rooms, boutiques, and cafes ringing the plaza. Grab a coffee at Flying Goat and browse the farmers’ market on Saturdays.

Where to Eat

SingleThread, if you can get a reservation, is a three-Michelin-star restaurant. For something more casual, Valette serves farm-to-table French-California cuisine. Noble Folk has ice cream and pie.
