Trivia Nights in San Francisco: Where to Play

San Francisco has trivia nights at bars, breweries, and pubs most nights of the week. Schedules change often, so treat this as a starting point and confirm the night and time with each venue before you go.

Bars and breweries with regular trivia

Zeki’s Bar, on California Street, runs a trivia night on Wednesdays, with views of the cable cars. Several breweries host weekly quizzes in their taprooms, including Black Hammer Brewing, Barebottle Brewing Company, Ballast Point, 47 Hills Brewing, and Lost Marbles Brewpub.

Quiz companies that run games around the city

Much of San Francisco’s bar trivia is run by traveling quiz companies that bring a host and questions to a different venue each night. Geeks Who Drink, King Trivia, Head Games Trivia, and Sunset Trivia run weekly games at venues across SoMa, the Mission, Bernal Heights, and other neighborhoods. Brainstormer Trivia runs a long-standing quiz at Monaghan’s.

Finding a current game

Because nights and hosts shift, the most reliable way to find a game is a maintained directory. Eddie’s List keeps an SF trivia schedule organized by day and neighborhood, and the quiz companies above list their venues on their own sites.

How it usually works

Most games are free to play and run in rounds over a couple of hours. Teams are usually capped at a set size. Prizes are often a bar tab or a gift card. On busy nights, arrive early to get a table.
