What you need to know
ABV opened on 16th Street in the Mission in 2014 from former Bourbon & Branch bartenders. The format is a serious cocktail bar that doesn’t take itself too seriously: bright lighting, simple bar stools, no speakeasy theatrics. The menu is built around accessibility and quality. Every drink under $15.
The Drinks
The cocktail menu rotates seasonally with around 16 builds organized by spirit and weight. House-made tinctures and syrups, fresh juices, and bartenders who can talk you through any drink without condescension. The Daiquiri is the bartender’s tell: a properly made one says everything about the program.
The Food
Bar food: oysters, sliders, fries, dips. Better than most bar food, not the reason to come.
