Comstock Saloon

📍 🍸 Historic Bar

What you need to know

Comstock Saloon occupies an 1907 building at Pacific and Columbus that once housed the Andromeda Saloon, a working-class watering hole during the Barbary Coast era. The current owners restored the room to its 19th-century saloon roots in 2010: original tin ceilings, marble bar, brass fittings, sawdust on the floor. Live jazz several nights a week, including from a piano in the corner.

The Drinks

Classic cocktail program with a focus on pre-Prohibition recipes. Pisco Punch (a San Francisco original from the 1850s), Sazeracs, Old Fashioneds, and house specialties built from 19th-century recipes. The bar makes its own grenadine and falernum.

The Food

American tavern food: deviled eggs, oysters, steak, fried chicken sandwich. Better than it needs to be for a bar.
