GaHee Park’s First US Solo Museum Show Opens at YBCA on August 7
Yerba Buena Center for the Arts opens GaHee Park: Behind the Curtain on Friday, August 7, 2026. The show runs through January 3, 2027 in the second floor galleries at 701 Mission Street, and YBCA describes it as Park’s first solo institutional exhibition in the United States.
The work
The exhibition gathers recent paintings. YBCA describes them as ambiguous depictions of private moments, moving between portraits of domestic solitude, still lifes and seaside landscapes, with insects, snails and sardines recurring alongside women looking into cocktail glasses. Park works in a surrealist mode, and the show is curated by Dorothy Davila.
Programs around the exhibition
An opening night celebration runs Friday, August 7 from 6 to 9pm, with the artist and curator on hand and a themed cash bar. Park and Davila are in conversation on Wednesday, August 12 at 6:30pm. A film series, Through an Open Window, co-presented by Park, Michael Vass and YBCA, runs Saturdays at 2pm from August 15 through October 31.
