Pork Store Café has served breakfast and lunch at 1451 Haight Street since 1984. The name comes from the building’s earlier life as a butcher shop and meat market in the early twentieth century. The original sign read Pork Store, and the cafe kept it.
The food is classic American diner cooking: eggs any way, hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and omelets. Weekend mornings draw a line down the sidewalk. The room is small, the counter seats fill first, and the kitchen moves fast.
It is open daily, roughly 8am to 2pm on weekdays and to 3pm on weekends. It is one of the longest-running food businesses on the stretch of Haight near Masonic, a good first or last stop on the walk.
