Trick Dog
The Verdict
"Book through Resy on a weeknight. The themed menu changes every six months and the bartender's choice is always the move. The fried chicken sandwich is the food order."
What you need to know
Trick Dog opened on 20th Street in the Mission in 2013 and has been one of the city’s top cocktail bars since the day it opened. The owners reinvent the menu twice a year around a different concept: Pantone color cards, conspiracy theories, the periodic table, vinyl records. Every cocktail is built from scratch with house-made syrups, infusions, and bitters. Two-time James Beard finalist for Outstanding Bar Program.
The Drinks
The menu changes themes every six months, but the level of craft stays consistent. Twelve to fifteen cocktails per menu, each one engineered to surprise. Classics are always available off-menu if you ask.
The Food
Bar food upgraded: deviled eggs, crispy potatoes, fried chicken sandwich, burger. Solid enough to make a meal of it.
