Palace of Fine Arts是1915年巴拿马太平洋万国博览会保留至今的建筑,这场博览会标志着San Francisco从1906年地震中的复兴。建筑师Bernard Maybeck最初用临时材料设计它,原本只打算在博览会期间使用,但这座城市把它保留了下来。
建筑本身
原建筑历经数十年逐渐损毁;1965年至1974年的重建工程用钢筋混凝土取代了临时石膏材料,依照Maybeck的图纸重现了圆形大厅和柱廊,2009年又完成了一次抗震加固。设计取材于古罗马和古希腊的经典元素,圆形穹顶高出倒影湖约162英尺。园区每日开放且免费,湖中吸引了鸭子和大雁,草坪也对野餐开放。主体建筑后方的Palace of Fine Arts Theatre举办音乐会、讲座和演出。
交通方式
Palace位于Marina区,靠近Baker和Beach。周末路边停车位很快就会占满,附近有30 Stockton巴士站。从Presidio或Crissy Field步行过来大约需要15分钟。
Pro tips
The last surviving structure from the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition. Walk around the lagoon for the classic reflection shot. Swans often nest here. Pair with a walk to Crissy Field or the Marina Green.
