The Rotunda sits on the fourth floor of Neiman Marcus on Stockton Street, under the stained-glass dome that’s been there since 1909. The room is one of the most beautiful dining spaces in San Francisco, and most visitors walk past it without ever knowing it exists. Lunch and afternoon tea are the main service.
The Food
The popovers and strawberry butter come standard at every table and are reason enough to come. Lobster club sandwiches, Cobb salads, and house-made soups round out lunch. The afternoon tea service includes scones, finger sandwiches, and a tower of sweets, served with a wide selection of teas.
The Space
The stained-glass dome, originally from the City of Paris department store, is the centerpiece. The original 1909 dome was preserved when Neiman Marcus took over the building, making the dining room a piece of San Francisco history. White tablecloths, attentive service, a quiet midday refuge from Union Square crowds.
