Boom Boom Room
The Verdict
"Live blues and funk in the historic Fillmore. Cover runs $5 to $20."
What you need to know
The Music
Live music four to six nights a week, mostly Wednesday through Saturday. The booking mixes touring blues, funk, and soul acts with Bay Area regulars. Cover charges are typically reasonable.
Check the calendar before going. Closed Sunday, Monday, and most Tuesdays.
The Space
Small, low-lit. A bar along one side, a floor-level stage at the back, and a dance floor that fills once the band gets going. The walls carry music memorabilia and references to the Fillmore District’s history as the center of Black culture and music in San Francisco.
