Onsen is a Japanese-inspired communal bathhouse on Eddy Street that reopened in March 2025 after being closed for nearly five years. The space centers on a 104-degree soaking tub, a redwood sauna, a steam room, and a cold plunge. The concept is rooted in the Japanese tradition of communal bathing: a place to decompress in shared space without the frenzy of a commercial spa.
What to expect
A two-hour session includes access to all bathing facilities. Robe, towel, sandals, complimentary bath products, and hot tea are provided. Massage and acupuncture services are available by appointment. The schedule rotates between co-ed (bathing suit required), men-only, and women-only sessions, with bathing suit optional on single-gender days.

Located at 466 Eddy Street, San Francisco, CA 94109. Hours are Monday 4pm to 10pm (Men, suit optional), Tuesday 2pm to 10pm (Women, suit optional), closed Wednesday, Thursday 2pm to 10pm (Co-ed, suit required), and Friday through Sunday 10am to 10pm (Co-ed, suit required). A 2-hour session costs $50.

On Eddy Street between Leavenworth and Hyde. A 10-minute walk from Civic Center BART. The 19 Polk and 31 Balboa Muni lines run nearby.
