Ju-Ni

📍 🍽️ Japanese

What you need to know

Ju-Ni opened on Fillmore Street in 2016 from chef Geoffrey Lee, who trained at Sushi Ran in Sausalito and Sushi Sho in Tokyo. Ju-Ni means twelve in Japanese, the number of seats at the omakase counter. The restaurant has held a Michelin star since 2017.

The Food

The omakase runs 12 to 14 courses of nigiri sushi, focused tightly on traditional Edomae technique. Fish comes from Toyosu Market in Tokyo and California sources. Each piece is seasoned, brushed, or aged before reaching the counter, with no soy sauce service. The chef does it for you.

The atmosphere is calmer than most omakase rooms. Conversation between chef and diner is part of the experience.
