Free Morning Hours in Golden Gate Park
The San Francisco Botanical Garden is free to everyone from 7:30 to 9am every day. The Japanese Tea Garden is free to everyone from 9 to 10am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Both are free any day for San Francisco residents with proof of address, along with the Conservatory of Flowers.
Graciela Iturbide: Between Two Worlds at SFMOMA
The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is showing Graciela Iturbide: Between Two Worlds, a survey of the Mexican photographer’s black-and-white work, through November 29. The museum is in SoMa on Third Street. See our SFMOMA Iturbide guide for ticket prices and hours.
One Hundred Plays of the Noh Theater at the Asian Art Museum
Woodblock prints by Tsukioka Kogyo showing characters from Noh theater are up in the Tateuchi Japanese Galleries through February 21, 2027, included with general admission. The museum is open Monday and Thursday through Sunday, and closed Tuesday and Wednesday. See our guide to the Noh prints.
Boom and Bust at the de Young
Boom and Bust: Photographing Northern California closes at the de Young on Sunday, August 2, so this is its last full week. The de Young is in Golden Gate Park and is open Tuesday through Sunday, 9:30am to 5:15pm.
Monday, July 27
Final Day: Chiharu Shiota at the Asian Art Museum
Chiharu Shiota: Two Home Countries closes Monday, July 27. The centerpiece stretches red yarn across the 88-foot Yamazaki and Yang Pavilion. The museum is at 200 Larkin Street in the Civic Center and is open 10am to 5pm on Mondays. See our guide to the exhibition for ticketing.
Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers
The Giants open a three-game home series against the Milwaukee Brewers at Oracle Park. First pitch is at 6:45pm. The ballpark is on the waterfront at 24 Willie Mays Plaza, a short walk from the Embarcadero and Montgomery stations.
Tuesday, July 28
Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Game two of the series against Milwaukee at Oracle Park, with first pitch at 6:45pm. Evenings on the waterfront run cold and windy in late July, so bring a jacket.
Wednesday, July 29
Dance Outdoors with Rhythm and Motion
The Yerba Buena Gardens Festival runs a free outdoor dance class on the Great Lawn from noon to 1pm. It is open to all levels and no registration is needed. See our Yerba Buena Gardens guide for the rest of the season.
Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers, Day Game
The series wraps with a 12:45pm day game at Oracle Park, the last Giants home game before the team leaves for San Diego and Texas. The next home stand starts August 7 against Detroit.
Thursday, July 30
Local Sirens: Cilantro and Briana Marela
The free Thursday lunchtime concert at Yerba Buena Gardens is presented by Women’s Audio Mission and features Cilantro and Briana Marela on the Great Lawn, 12:30 to 1:30pm. Seating on the lawn is first come, first served.
Thursday Evening Hours at the Asian Art Museum
The Asian Art Museum is open 1 to 8pm on Thursdays, its one late night of the week. With Chiharu Shiota closed, the current shows include the Noh theater prints, FX Harsono’s Writing in the Rain through September 7, and This Asian American Life through September 28.
Getting Around
Yerba Buena Gardens sits in SoMa near the Powell and Montgomery stations, served by BART and Muni Metro, plus many Market Street buses. The Asian Art Museum is across from Civic Center station on Larkin Street. Oracle Park is a short walk from Embarcadero station and is also served by the N Judah and T Third Muni Metro lines along the waterfront. For Golden Gate Park, the 5 Fulton runs along the north edge, the N Judah runs along Irving Street to the south, and the 44 O’Shaughnessy stops at the Music Concourse. BART’s elevator at 24th Street Mission station is out of service through August 10, so riders who need it should use 16th Street Mission or Glen Park. SFMTA lists current routes on its website. Check it before you drive or take transit.
