FIFA World Cup Free Fan Zones

The FIFA World Cup begins June 11. San Francisco runs free public watch parties with matches on big screens. The Pier 39 Fan Zone opens June 12, and free screenings at China Basin Park at Mission Rock begin June 13. The first Bay Area match, Qatar against Switzerland, is June 13 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

International Queer Women of Color Film Festival

The 22nd annual International Queer Women of Color Film Festival screens 34 films by queer women, transgender, and nonbinary filmmakers of color over three days, June 12 to 14, at the Presidio Theatre. Every screening has open captions, audio description, and ASL interpretation.

Juneteenth Freedom Celebration in the Fillmore

The Juneteenth Freedom Celebration takes over eight blocks of the Fillmore with live music, a classic car show, a hair and fashion show, food vendors, and a family area. It runs from 11am to 6pm. Admission is free, and organizers ask attendees to RSVP online.

Northern California Soy and Tofu Festival

The 14th annual Soy and Tofu Festival is the Nichi Bei Foundation’s fundraiser tied to Japantown. It includes food vendors, cooking demonstrations, a tofu eating contest, and a dessert competition, from 11am to 5pm. There is a free shuttle from Japantown’s Peace Plaza.

Stern Grove Festival Season Opener

The Juneteenth celebration closes Fillmore Street on Saturday, and the Stern Grove opener brings crowds to Sloat Boulevard on Sunday. The Muni T Third line serves Oracle Park, China Basin Park, and Chase Center for Giants games and World Cup fan zones. SFMTA lists current street closures and reroutes on its website.
