The Verdict
"See the four story Rainforest Dome and the coral reef aquarium, and come back for the 21+ NightLife event on Thursday evenings."
What you need to know
An aquarium, planetarium, and natural history museum under one living roof in Golden Gate Park, holding over 46 million specimens beneath a roof planted with native California wildflowers.
The collection includes a four-story indoor rainforest and the Steinhart Aquarium, which opened in 1923 inside an earlier building and now holds more than 800 species, including one of the deepest indoor coral reefs in the world. The current building was designed by Renzo Piano. NightLife events on Thursday evenings (21+) turn the museum into an adults-only space with cocktails and DJs.
