What to expect

A 90-minute show that combines aerial acrobatics, Chinese pole, Korean plank, hand-balancing, juggling, and hoop diving with live original music, spoken word, and video projections. The performances trace San Francisco’s history (Gold Rush, 1906 earthquake, beat poetry) through circus arts rather than narrative. The theater is small, so the acrobats perform close to the audience.

The Story

Created by Shana Carroll and Gypsy Snider, two co-founders of the Montreal circus collective The 7 Fingers (Les 7 Doigts), as a tribute to their hometown. The show opened October 12, 2021, taking over Club Fugazi, which had been home to Beach Blanket Babylon from 1975 until that show closed in 2019.

Getting there

On Green Street in North Beach, a block from Columbus Avenue. The 30-Stockton and 45-Union/Stockton buses run on Stockton Street one block east. About a 15-minute walk from Montgomery BART. Street parking in North Beach is competitive on evenings and weekends.
