Buena Vista Cafe
The Verdict
"Get an Irish coffee at the cable-car turnaround. They pour about 2,000 a day."
What you need to know
The Buena Vista has poured drinks at Hyde and Beach since 1916. The current Irish coffee recipe dates to 1952, when owner Jack Koeppler and travel writer Stanton Delaplane spent a night recreating the drink Delaplane had at Shannon Airport. The bar makes around 2,000 Irish coffees a day, assembly-line style in pre-warmed glasses.
Hours: Weekdays from 9am, weekends from 8am; closes 11pm Sunday through Thursday, midnight Friday and Saturday
