Hon’s Wun-Tun House
The Verdict
"Hong Kong-style wonton noodle soup with hand-wrapped wontons and clean broth. So Tasty! "
What you need to know
Hon’s Wun-Tun House has been a Chinatown fixture since 1972. Owner Ng Yuen Wah purchased it in 2010 after working there for 30 years. The specialty is Hong Kong-style wonton noodle soup with hand-wrapped wontons and clean broth, but the broader menu covers handmade xiaolongbao, pan-fried buns, dumplings, and stir-fried Cantonese dishes. Prices are still some of the lowest in the neighborhood.
The Food
The wonton noodle soup is the signature. Plump shrimp-and-pork wontons in a clear broth with thin egg noodles. Pan-fried buns, BBQ dishes, and a range of dumpling options round out the menu. Portions are generous and the cooking is consistent across visits.
The Space
Compact and functional. Formica tables, quick service, and a lunch rush that fills every seat. The original on Kearny Street faces the noodle station with steam fogging up the front window. A second location is at 733 Washington Street, with another planned for the Outer Sunset.
