About Haight-Ashbury

Haight-Ashbury在19世纪80年代和90年代作为有轨电车郊区发展起来，当时Golden Gate Park已建成，缆车线路也延伸到了这一带。Haight Street以19世纪旧金山银行家Henry Haight命名。遍布该社区的维多利亚式公寓大多建于那个时期，并且大多在1906年地震中幸存下来，因为大火在东边较远处的Van Ness Avenue就被阻止了。

到20世纪50年代，这个社区已经衰落，租金低廉，吸引了学生和音乐家前来。这为20世纪60年代的反主流文化奠定了基础。The Grateful Dead在1966年至1968年间住在710 Ashbury Street，1967年这一带成为Summer of Love的中心。

该社区分为Upper Haight（围绕Haight和Ashbury交叉口一带）和Lower Haight（Divisadero以东）。大部分游客活动集中在Upper Haight，Amoeba Music就坐落在Haight和Stanyan交叉口一座原保龄球馆内。唱片店、复古商店和咖啡馆沿Haight Street绵延约八个街区。
