Red Blossom Tea Company has been sourcing and selling artisanal teas from its Grant Avenue shop in Chinatown since 1985. The store carries over 100 single-origin teas from China and Taiwan, ranging from familiar oolongs and green teas to rare aged pu-erh and specialty white teas. The staff knows the inventory deeply and will guide you through tastings and recommendations.

What to expect

This is not a place to grab a quick cup. Red Blossom is built for people who want to understand tea: where it comes from, how it’s processed, and how to brew it properly. Teas are available by the ounce or in larger quantities. The shop also carries teaware, brewing equipment, and gift sets. Their 40th anniversary collection (released in 2025) highlights their most prized sourcing relationships.

Visiting

Located at 831 Grant Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94108. Open Monday, Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm. Closed Sunday and Tuesday. Teas cost $15 to $30+ per 2 ounces, varying widely by type and rarity.

Getting there

On Grant Avenue in Chinatown, the main commercial street. The 30 Stockton and 45 Union/Stockton buses run nearby. A 10-minute walk from Montgomery BART.
