Pistahan Parade and Festival 2026: San Francisco’s Filipino Celebration

Pistahan is a two-day Filipino and Filipino-American cultural festival held each August at Yerba Buena Gardens in San Francisco. The 2026 edition is the 33rd annual, set for Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9. It opens with a parade on Saturday morning and continues with two days of food, music, and dance pavilions at the gardens. Admission is free. What to Expect The weekend starts with the Pistahan Parade on Saturday, which steps off around 11am from the Civic Center area and travels down Market Street toward Yerba Buena. Organizers describe it as the largest Filipino parade on the West Coast. After the parade, the festival fills the Great Lawn at Yerba Buena Gardens with stages and themed pavilions covering food, arts and crafts, agriculture, and health. Programming runs both days and includes traditional and contemporary music, dance, and martial arts. Food is a central part of Pistahan. Vendors sell Filipino dishes such as lumpia, pancit, lechon, and halo-halo, alongside work from local makers and community groups. The Story The Filipino American Arts Exposition founded Pistahan in 1994. The festival grew out of the community tied to SOMA Pilipinas, the Filipino cultural heritage district in the South of Market area, where thousands of Filipino families had lived before the redevelopment that built the Moscone Center and Yerba Buena Gardens. It has been held at the gardens since. Details When: Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, 2026. Parade Saturday morning; festival both days.
