San Francisco Bon Odori and Ginza Bazaar 2026 (July 25-26)

The Buddhist Church of San Francisco holds its 95th annual Obon Odori and 83rd annual Ginza Bazaar over the weekend of July 25 and 26, 2026, in Japantown. Both days are free and open to the public. What to Expect Obon is the Japanese Buddhist observance honoring ancestors, and the Obon Odori is the folk dance that goes with it. Dancers wear happi coats, yukata, and kimono, and the public is welcome to join the circle rather than only watch it. The Ginza Bazaar runs both days with food, games, and booths at the temple. Saturday is Ginza Bazaar only. Sunday runs the bazaar and the Obon Odori together. The temple held its Obon and Hatsubon service on Sunday, July 19, ahead of the festival weekend.
