What you need to know

The Food

Brisket, pork shoulder, spare ribs, smoked chicken and house sausages out of a traditional pit and smoker, plus the Best Damn Cheeseburger and the Frankaroni, which is a hot dog baked into macaroni cheese. Order at the counter and eat at communal picnic tables in the covered yard.

The Story

Ryan Farr, a whole animal butcher and cookbook author, built 4505 Meats into a following at the Sunday Divisadero farmers market before opening this restaurant on the same street in May 2014. The company sources from farmers and ranchers raising animals humanely, which is the premise the whole business was built on.

Hours: Daily 10.30am to 10pm. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Note: The company’s Oakland branch has closed indefinitely. This Divisadero location is open and unaffected.
