Bottom of the Hill
The Verdict
"A 250-capacity room that launched plenty of bands. Catch it before it closes."
What you need to know
The Music
The booking leans independent: punk, indie rock, garage, experimental. National touring acts share the calendar with Bay Area locals. Cover charges usually run $10 to $20.
The room is small with a low ceiling, so no one is more than thirty feet from the stage.
The Space
Inside: dark, loud, sticky floors. A bar runs along one wall. The stage takes up the back. No assigned seating, no VIP sections.
The back patio is a decent-sized outdoor area with picnic tables, food from a kitchen window, and conversation distance from the stage.

Note: Bottom of the Hill will close at the end of 2026 after 35 years in business. The venue’s final show is scheduled for December 31, 2026. The owners cited rising operating costs and shifts in San Francisco’s demographics.
