About Pacific Heights
Pacific Heights位于北面的Marina和南面的Western Addition之间的山脊上。自19世纪70年代起,随着缆车使人们能够方便地居住在陡峭的山坡上,这里发展成为富裕住宅区。建筑商在街区内建造了维多利亚式住宅,后来又建造了爱德华式住宅,其中许多规模宏大。
该社区保留了大量早期住宅,因为1906年地震后引发的大火在东边的Van Ness Avenue处被阻止。位于Franklin Street的Haas-Lilienthal House,一栋建于1886年的安妮女王式维多利亚建筑,得以幸存,现在是由San Francisco Heritage管理的博物馆,是该时期唯一一栋定期对公众开放的完整私人住宅。
随着财富的增长,更大的豪宅相继建成。糖业大亨Claus Spreckels之子Adolph Spreckels于1913年前后在2080 Washington Street建造了Spreckels Mansion,由George Applegarth以法式风格设计。北侧山脊沿Broadway的一段拥有旧金山最高的房地产价值之一。
