What you need to know

DNA Lounge has occupied 375 11th Street in SoMa since 1985. Forty-plus years of operation makes it one of the longest-running nightclubs in San Francisco, a city that regularly loses venues to development and rising rents. Two stages, four dance floors, and six bars spread across the space. The programming is eclectic: live bands, DJs, burlesque nights, all-ages shows, and themed parties that have earned over 80 “best of” awards from local publications.

The drinks

Full bars throughout the venue. Standard club pricing. DNA Pizza operates next door and serves until late, which solves the 1am hunger problem that most nightclubs ignore.

The space

Industrial SoMa aesthetic: dark, loud when the music’s going, and built to hold a crowd. The multiple rooms mean you can find a quieter corner if the main floor is too much. The sound system has been voted best in the city by SF Weekly.
