Civic Centerに位置するアジア美術館で、古代の翡翠から現代インスタレーションまで18,000点以上の作品を収蔵。
本館はGeorge Kelhamが設計した1917年のボザール様式建築である元サンフランシスコ中央図書館で、City Hallの向かい側に位置している。イタリアの建築家Gae Aulenがこの耐震補強と改装を指揮した。毎月第1日曜日は入館無料で、屋上テラスではローテーション展示されたアート作品を鑑賞できる。
