路地は小さく、幅約23フィート、長さ136フィート。レッドウッドを含む成熟した木々が、空間全体を覆うほど高く伸びている。壁画が周囲の壁を覆っている。ベンチはプランターの間に配置されており、手作りの粘土オーブンと錦鯉の池も含まれている。外側の密集した都市型Tenderloinと、内側のこの緑のポケットのコントラストは明白だ。
「National Forest」という名前はユーモアである。Luggage Store Galleryの共同アーティスティックディレクターDarryl SmithとLaurie Lazerは1989年から路地の変革に取り組んでおり、正式にTenderloin National Forestとしてプログラムしている。Luggage Storeは引き続きこのスペースの内外でアートイベントをプログラムしている。
すでにこの地域にいる場合の短い立ち寄り。歩くのに約2分間。Union SquareまたはCivic Center近くにいる場合は、かなりの迂回になる。
注：路地はTenderloinにあり、特に初めての訪問者にとって、忙しく激しく感じることができる。日中の時間が実用的な窓である。

知っておくべきこと：路地は見落としやすい。Ellis Street上の建物の上から突き出ている緑を探してください。隣のLuggage Store Galleryもチェックする価値があります。
アクセス方法
交通：BARTまたはMuni MetroでCivic Center/UN Plaza駅まで行き、その後5分歩く。Muni 31-BalboaまたはMuni 38-GearyでTenderloinへ。
駐車：Ellis通りとO’Farrell通りのガレージ。路上駐車は期待しない。
歩行：Union Square、Asian Art Museum、Civic CenterのMain Libraryから数ブロック。
