Alon Nechustan’s Venture Bound Quintet

Alon Nechustan’s Venture Bound is a New York City based quintet featuring Matt Renzi and Jesse Levit on reeds, Nechustan on piano, Sam Bevan on bass, and Gregg Wyser-Pratte on drums. The group blends contemporary small ensemble jazz with world music influences, drawing on Nechustan’s Tel Aviv background and the band’s diverse sonic palette. Their work spans from klezmer-inflected pieces to Middle Eastern instrumentation and Balkan rhythmic approaches, creating what Jazz Times describes as “hardcore, up-to-the-minute small-ensemble jazz with a unique sonic signature.” Venture Bound has performed at major venues including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, and Kennedy Center, and has opened for jazz legend Tony Bennett.
