Chris Trinidad’s Chroma Tonic brings together Naima Shalhoub (voice/keyboards), Scott Oshiro (flute/quantum electronics), Alex Heigl (guitar/effects), Chris Trinidad (bass/guitar/synth), and Cy Thompson (drums/percussion) for a night of inventive sonic exploration. Drawing from Brian Eno and Robert Fripp’s ambient foundations, Pink Floyd’s psychedelia, and Miles Davis’s electric experiments, the group weaves together each member’s influences into intriguing groove music. Shalhoub layers vocals and synth textures over Heigl’s looped guitars, while Thompson’s Afro-Caribbean percussion and Oshiro’s live quantum electronics add layers of improvisation. $25 cover; students $10.
