Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a federal holiday. San Francisco’s main public event in 2026 is the SF Juneteenth Market Street Parade and Block Party on Saturday, June 20. What to Expect The fourth annual SF Juneteenth Market Street Parade and Block Party runs Saturday, June 20 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It begins at Market and 2nd streets and proceeds down Market to Embarcadero Plaza, with performances, music, vendors, food, and community organizations. It is presented by Livable City and Burge LLC. Admission is free with an RSVP. Details When: Friday June 19 (the federal holiday) and Saturday June 20.
