Gary Frank ने अक्टूबर 1976 में Haight Street पर The Booksmith खोला। वर्तमान मालिक Christin Evans और Praveen Madan ने 2007 में उन्हें दुकान खरीदी। San Francisco ने अक्टूबर 2016 में Booksmith को Legacy Business का दर्जा दिया।
