Sunday Streets closes its 2026 season in the Excelsior on Sunday, October 18. The open-streets program, run by the nonprofit Livable City, closes neighborhood streets to cars for an afternoon of free games, performances, live music, health resources and vendor booths.
What to Expect
Sunday Streets has run in San Francisco since 2008. The 2026 season had four dates: the Tenderloin on June 14, the Mission on July 19, the Bayview on August 23, and the Excelsior on October 18, per the organizer’s site. Past editions have run from 11am to 4pm, and DoTheBay’s listing for the Excelsior date gives the same hours.
Livable City has not yet posted the Excelsior route or the full program; check the organizer’s site for the confirmed 2026 route and hours before you go. Sunday Streets has a wet-weather cancellation policy, so a heavy rain forecast is worth watching.

Cost: Free. Getting there: The 14 Mission and 14R Mission Rapid run the length of Mission Street through the Excelsior. Balboa Park BART is about half a mile west of Mission and Geneva. Expect the event streets themselves to be closed to cars.
