Red booths, opera on the jukebox, and the House Cappuccino, a Prohibition-era mix of steamed milk, chocolate and brandy with no coffee in it. Filmmakers have long been among the regulars.
The permit record lists Until the End of the World (1991), Basic Instinct (1992), The Assassination of Richard Nixon (2004) and Big Sur (2013) shooting here. It opens in the evening, so on a daytime walk you see it from the sidewalk.
