The Verdict

"Check the schedule for gender-specific days and bathing suit requirements before you go. The redwood sauna is the highlight. Book ahead for massage or acupuncture."

What you need to know

Onsen is a Japanese-inspired communal bathhouse on Eddy Street that reopened in March 2025 after being closed for nearly five years. The space centers on a 104-degree soaking tub, a redwood sauna, a steam room, and a cold plunge. The concept is rooted in the Japanese tradition of communal bathing: a place to decompress in shared space without the frenzy of a commercial spa.
