Wednesday runs on markets: Heart of the City at Civic Center from 7am to 4pm year-round, and the Castro Farmers’ Market from 3 to 7pm, spring through fall. The rest of the day bookends them, starting with a free 6:29am workout in Dolores Park and ending with stand-up near Union Square.
November Project at Dolores Park
November Project SF holds a free outdoor group workout every Wednesday at 6:29am in Dolores Park, as it has since 2013. No signup and no cost; details are on the group’s site.
Heart of the City Farmers Market
The Heart of the City Farmers Market runs Wednesdays from 7am to 4pm, year-round, at Fulton Plaza between the Main Library and the Asian Art Museum (it moved there from UN Plaza in 2024). It is an independent, farmer-operated nonprofit market and one of the most affordable in the city.
Castro Farmers’ Market
The Castro Farmers’ Market runs Wednesdays from 3 to 7pm at Noe Street and Market Street, seasonally from early April through mid-November.
Stand-Up at Cheaper Than Therapy
Cheaper Than Therapy, an independent stand-up showcase running since 2013, plays Wednesday through Sunday at the Shelton Theater, 533 Sutter Street near Union Square. The Wednesday show is at 7:45pm, shows run 70 to 90 minutes, and there is no drink minimum. 18 and over; tickets on the show’s site.
Afternoon Skate in Golden Gate Park
Skaters gather at the Skatin’ Place, 6th Avenue and JFK Drive in Golden Gate Park, on Wednesday afternoons from about 3 to 5pm. Free.
Free Morning Hour at the Japanese Tea Garden
The Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park is free for everyone from 9 to 10am on Wednesdays (also Mondays and Fridays), and the San Francisco Botanical Garden is free daily from 7:30 to 9am.
Planning Note
