Lands End
The Verdict
"A 1.5-mile coastal trail from the Sutro Baths ruins to Eagle Point, lined with cypress trees. Three shipwrecks (the Ohioan and Frank Buck, both 1937; Lyman Stewart, 1922) are visible at low tide from the overlooks. The cliffside labyrinth sits near Mile Rock Beach."
What you need to know
The Lands End Coastal Trail runs along the rocky coastline from the Sutro Baths ruins to Eagle Point on the northwest edge of San Francisco. The main trail is about 1.5 miles one way, mostly along a dirt path lined with cypress trees, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. From overlooks above the water you can see the remains of three shipwrecks: the Ohioan (1937), the Lyman Stewart (1922), and the Frank Buck (1937), visible at low tide. The cliffside labyrinth (rebuilt several times after vandalism) sits near Mile Rock Beach. The Legion of Honor museum sits at the eastern trailhead.
