Nihonmachi Street Fair 2026: Free Japantown Festival (August 1-2)
The Nihonmachi Street Fair is a free two-day festival in San Francisco’s Japantown. The 52nd annual fair runs Saturday and Sunday, August 1 and 2, 2026, from 11am to 6pm both days, on Post Street between Webster and Laguna Streets. What to Expect The fair has been held since 1974 and centers on Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. It fills several blocks of Post Street with two performance stages, a marketplace of AAPI artisans and vendors, cultural arts and crafts activities, a food area with local small businesses, and a beer and sake garden. Performances run through both afternoons and include traditional and contemporary music and dance. Admission is free; food, drink, and merchandise are sold by vendors. Details When: Saturday and Sunday, August 1 and 2, 2026, 11am to 6pm both days. Where: Post Street between Webster and Laguna Streets, Japantown. Cost: Free to attend. Getting there: The 38 Geary bus stops two blocks north on Geary Boulevard, and the 22 Fillmore and 2 Sutter/Clement lines run nearby. Parking in Japantown is limited during the fair; the Japan Center garage on Geary is the main paid option, so transit is the easier choice. Full details are at nihonmachistreetfair.org.
