Lands End
The Verdict
"Plan your hike around low tide and you can spot shipwreck debris below the overlooks."
What you need to know
A rocky coastal trail along the northwest edge of San Francisco, running from the Sutro Baths ruins to Eagle Point.
The main trail is about 1.5 miles one way, mostly a dirt path lined with cypress trees, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. From overlooks above the water you can see the remains of three shipwrecks: the Ohioan (1936), the Lyman Stewart (1922), and the Frank Buck (1937), visible at low tide. The cliffside labyrinth sits near Mile Rock Beach, and the Legion of Honor museum sits at the eastern trailhead.
