Heart of the City Farmers Market is a farmer-run nonprofit that has operated at United Nations Plaza in Civic Center since 1981, one of the few farmer-run markets in California. The plaza becomes a market on Sundays and Wednesdays.
What’s Sold
The vendor mix reflects Central Valley farming communities and the surrounding neighborhoods, with Southeast Asian vegetables, Mexican chiles and herbs, winter citrus, and summer stone fruit. Prices run lower than at the marquee markets. Most vendors take cash, some take cards; the market accepts EBT, and Market Match doubles CalFresh up to $15 per visit.
