Comedy Day returns to Robin Williams Meadow in Golden Gate Park on Sunday, September 20, 2026, for its 45th year. The show runs about five hours, admission is free, and more than 50 comedians are on the bill.
What to Expect
The program runs from noon to 5pm across five sets, each with its own rotating host, opening with Debi Durst and closing with a curtain call. Comedy Day lists Paula Poundstone, Christopher Titus, Will Durst, Marga Gomez, Brian Copeland, Diane Amos, Nato Green, Nina G, Johnny Steele and Scott Capurro among this year’s performers, with a surprise guest slot scheduled around 1:55pm. The organizers note that times are approximate and the lineup can change.
The show has run every year since 1981. It started at the Golden Gate Park Music Concourse, moved to the Polo Fields in 1987 to fit larger crowds, and has been held in what is now Robin Williams Meadow for roughly the past two decades. The meadow, formerly Sharon Meadow, was renamed for Robin Williams in 2017. Comedy Day describes the show as PG-13: performers are asked to keep it clean, though off-color material comes up.
Papalote Mexican Grill and the Kabob Trolley sell food on site, Sierra Nevada pours beer, and Pat Paulsen Vineyards pours wine. Comedy Day asks people to leave lawn chairs at home because space is tight this year. Leashed dogs are welcome. The show goes ahead in the rain.

Cost: Free. Comedy Day is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and runs on donations, sponsors and San Francisco Grants for the Arts. Getting there: Comedy Day directs visitors to Muni and lists the 5 Fulton to Stanyan and Fulton, the 7 Haight/Noriega, the 33 to Stanyan and Haight, and the 66 at 9th Avenue and Judah, about a 16 minute walk. The N Judah stop at Irving and 2nd Avenue is the wheelchair accessible approach. Check SFMTA for current routes and alerts before you set out. For parking, the organizers point to the Kezar Stadium lot on Stanyan, St. Mary’s Hospital off Fell Street, and UCSF at Irving and 2nd Avenue.
