Hunters Point Shipyard Open Studios Returns October 17-18 With 130-Plus Artists and Free Admission
More than 130 artists at Hunters Point Shipyard open their studios to the public on Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, 2026, from 11am to 6pm. Admission and parking are free. Shipyard Open Studios is run by the nonprofit Shipyard Trust for the Arts and serves as Weekend 4 of the citywide SF Open Studios.
What to Expect
The studios belong to painters, sculptors, jewelers, ceramicists, photographers and metalworkers. The organizers list a silent art auction, live jazz and classical music, food from local vendors, a beer and wine garden, and hands-on art activities for kids with the Art Rocks Clubhouse. There are also displays about the ongoing environmental cleanup of the Shipyard, a former Navy site.
Shipyard Trust for the Arts bills the Shipyard as the largest single site in SF Open Studios. Satellite studios at Islais Creek, 1 Rankin St., are open the same weekend, a short drive from the main site.

Same Weekend at the Shipyard
The Shipyard’s gantry crane is the canvas for CRANE, a light, music and projection piece that runs after dark on October 16 and 17, so a Saturday visit can cover both. SF Open Studios events in other neighborhoods continue through October 25. For the rest of the month’s art openings and festivals, see our October 2026 guide.
