About The Castro
The Castro曾是19世纪时被称为Eureka Valley的农田。Castro Street以José Castro命名，他是墨西哥时期Alta California的总督。1887年，Market Street Cable Railway延伸至此山谷，引发了一场住房建设热潮，建成的维多利亚式建筑至今仍矗立在街区中。数十年来，这里一直是工人阶级社区，居民多为斯堪的纳维亚裔和爱尔兰裔。由Timothy Pflueger设计的Castro Theatre于1922年在Castro Street开业。
